This course is focused on teaching numbers. It will take the learner through the practical methods of introducing students to teens, tens, reading 4-digit numbers, and telling time.

All children have their own unique personalities, and they all develop at their own pace. However, we can introduce very young children to numbers using well-designed methods that have been proven effective through decades of practice.

The methods used in this course were originally designed by Maria Montessori who believed in using a sensory approach to teaching.  This means using concrete materials that children can see, touch, and feel to understand numbers.

Through this course, learners will:

• Understand and use the types of concrete materials to introduce teens, tens, 4-digit numbers, and telling time
• Use the methods provided in this course to effectively present sequential lessons
• Apply the three-period lesson to evaluate student understanding
