COURSE HOURS 2.0 CPE (0.2 CEU)
OVERVIEW

“Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained, to be delighted.” – Dr. Seuss

This course is focused on the effective planning and use of learning centers in the classroom and the role of teachers as facilitators of these centers.

A childcare program focused on providing excellent service will strive to maintain a professional, caring, and energetic environment.  This requires the staff to work as a team to ensure every child progresses in his or her development, and it also requires the program to utilize best practices in the organization and management of the classrooms.  There is a clear and vital investment in the continuous growth and development of its staff.

Children at this age have their own personalities and develop at their own pace. However, it is our job as their teachers, facilitators, and mentors to expose them to new experiences and encourage their development through the use of well-designed learning centers in the classroom.

By the end of this course, teachers will have a good understanding of how to develop, introduce, and maintain these centers in their classroom.

OBJECTIVES

Learners will develop the following skills:

  • Understand the role of learning centers and their own role in introducing these centers to their students
  • Plan the content and materials for their learning centers
  • Evaluate the impact of the learning centers in the development for each of the students in their care
